How do I join Newbury Sub-Aqua Club?

The first step is to come and visit us. Come along to one of our regular Thursday evening meetings. Here you can meet members, hear all about our latest diving trips, learn what training is happening, and generally get a feel for the branch. You can also talk to the Diving Officer, and to the Membership Secretary, who will give you information about costs.

What do I need to bring?

If you are already a qualified diver, bring your Qualification certificate, or log book. If you want to learn to dive, just bring yourself!

Anything else?

People wishing to learn to dive, and divers from other organisations, will need to complete a UK Sport Diver Medical Self-declaration, (pdf) before they join.

How do I know SCUBA is for me?

Come and have a try dive! You will enjoy an hour in the pool, with a Qualified Instructor. The cost for this is £20, which includes all necessary equipment, and a safety briefing.

How much does it cost?

New members learning to dive with Newbury Sub-Aqua Club pay £178 for their first years membership. Subsequently, full adult membership of Newbury Sub-Aqua Club costs £89 pa. There are reductions for junior members, and social members (who do not dive).

All members of Newbury Sub-Aqua Club also need to join the British Sub-Aqua Club. This costs £50 for an adult member. There are reductions for young people, students, or two members living at the same address.

The Membership Secretary will be able to give you full details about costs.

What do I get?

If you want to learn to dive, you will receive training from experienced BSAC Nationally Qualified Instructors. You will have to pay for training materials provided by BSAC.

Divers in training, and qualified divers, will be able to dive from the two Branch RIB’s. The cost of a day’s diving is £25, which gives two boat dives.

All members have free use of the pool, for training, or for recreational swimming.

Members have free cylinder fills from the Branch compressor, and Nitrox is available at a small charge.

Who do I contact?

In the first instance, contact the Membership Secretary.
